The Department for Work and Pensions had received an internal memo warning about the possible risk of suicide attempts among claimants who were set to partially lose some of their benefits. This cutting of benefits based on “physical” need has failed to take into account the mental health of some of these patients, and fears of attempted suicides are abundant.
