New fighter jets contract to boost jobs

A new F-35 contract with Lockheed Martin will be a huge success for the economy. It is projected to bring the UK about £30 billion GDP and nearly 25,000 jobs over 30 years. Around 130 firms from many parts of the nation will be manufacturing components under the contract. Locally, the F-35s will be replacing Harrier and Tornado jets used by the MoD. Several other countries have already placed orders with a majority being purchased by the US.
