This article on the BBC talks about the rise in graduates taking up low level jobs or stay underemployed for longer. They make a point that graduates still earn £100K on average more over their lifetime, which in a sense is not bad but can be a lot higher.

With rising student fees, when selecting a subject to study it is becoming very important to choose something you like doing, are good at and has job prospects in the future.
