Aviva staff leave after agreeing voluntary redundancy – Other UK business news – Business News – Business – Birmingham Post

Another insurance giant in Birmingham, Aviva, has made the preemptive move to ask workers to opt for voluntary redundancy, due to predicted cuts likely to happen in the future.  Twenty five workers will be leaving the offices next month, leaving 140 staff members to run the city center office.

Erik Nelson, the head of media relations for Aviva publically stated that the cuts to the general insurance trading centers were necessary in order to minimize redundancies in the future.  The company itself is facing almost a thousand jobs at risk for redundancy, and hopes to save on the order of 400 million pounds with these cuts.
